A preview of the events of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial taking place to mark the 77th anniversary of the end of the war and the liberation of the concentration camps in May 2022.

We are pleased to be able to invite you to events on site again this year. In recent years, to our great regret, we had not been able to hold any commemorative events or welcome any guests to Hamburg due to the Corona pandemic.

To mark the anniversary of the end of the war and the liberation of the concentration camps, we are planning a whole series of events at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial. In addition, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the bombing of the concentration camp ships in Neustadt Bay, various events will be held by the Amicale Internationale KZ Neuengamme (AIN) in Neustadt in Holstein.

We ask that you wear an FFP2 mask indoors.

2 May 2022, 4.00 p.m.: Kick-off event on the Neustadt market square. Opening of the accompanying programme for the commemorations.

2 May 2022, 5.00 p.m.: Panel discussion with descendants of victims of the bombing of the prisoner ships, representatives of Neustadt civil society, historians and politicians on Neustadt's market square.

2 May 2022, 8 p.m.: Open-air film screening on the Neustadt market square.

3 May 2022, 11.00 a.m.: Memorial event on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the bombing of the concentration camp ships in Neustadt Bay in Neustadt.

3 May 2022, 12.30 p.m.: Boat trip to the location of the sinking of the prisoner ships for descendants of former prisoners of Neuengamme concentration camp.
