Education

The Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial is an educational site with international significance where people can explore questions about history and our world today. Our goal is to raise awareness of the injustices committed by the Nazis. Our educational approach towards history encourages reflection and a critical understanding while also drawing parallels between the history of the Nazi regime and current issues. The educational programmes at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial are designed and offered by our Education Department and Centre for Historical Studies.

Trained staff with many years of experience act as guides for groups visiting the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial. These experts offer age-appropriate tours of the exhibitions and grounds according to visitors’ interests. They explain aspects of the camp, answer questions and assist with group work.

Visitors can book a group tour in German, English, French, Italien, Danish, Polish, Russian, Dutch, Spanish, Norwegian, Serbo-Croatian (Bosnian/ Croatian/ Serbian), Hebrew, Farsi, high Arabic and (German) sign language with the Museumsdienst Hamburg. Please remember to book your visit early.
