Virtual commemoration

The commemorations marking the 75th anniversary of the Liberation have been relocated to a virtual space at the 75liberation website. In these short video clips, survivors, relatives, politicians and the directors of the Foundation of Hamburg Memorials and Learning Centres and of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial explain in their own words what the anniversary means for them (in German, English and French).

For the 76th anniversary of the Liberation we asked the survivors and former prisoners’ relatives about objects which stand for their memories or are associated with them. We would like to tell you their stories: Objects carry memories

Educational offer

Our WebApp (in German) is certainly well worth a look when preparing for a school trip to the Memorial Site with Year 9 pupils (and upwards). The App features the short biographies of various prisoners held at the Concentration Camp.

Groups can get to know the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial, the Bullenhuser Damm, Poppenbüttel and Fuhlsbüttel Memorials digitally with pedagogical guidance in an interactive and participatory way, dealing with various key topics on National Socialist persecution and the concentration camp system in depth: Discover memorials digitally

To research various topics from home, why not make use of our Open Archive digital learning workshop (in German, English, French and Russian). The database has a search function and features various media accessible online, including the contents of various exhibitions such as the Bullenhuser Damm Memorial, and a number of special exhibitions.
