02/25/2024 Exhibition
Two years after the start of Russia's war against Ukraine, the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial will be showing drawings by Ukrainian artists Oliksandr Putivkiy and Roman Kolesnikov starting 24 February 2024. They illustrate memoirs of former Ukrainian prisoners of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp, Nadezhda Zueva, Anton Rudnyev, and Grigori Nedelko. The drawings were created in 2022 and 2023 and will be exhibited in booklets and as image projections in the foyer of the memorial’s main exhibition. Read more

Relatives of former prisoners of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp are once again invited to honor their persecuted family member(s) with a poster. Poster designs can be submitted until February 25. Read more

At the annual "Future of Remembrance" forum, descendants of victims and perpetrators of Nazi persecution met with memorial site staff and other interested parties to discuss issues related to the culture of remembrance. Read more

The "International Memorial" at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial is a protected monument that was erected in 1965 by the city of Hamburg through an initiative of the Amicale Internationale de Neuengamme (AIN). Part of the historic site are 22 memorial stones naming the countries of origin of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp prisoners. In the planned redesign of the memorial, one of the main goals is to take into consideration the changes of nation states overtime and to make victim groups who do not see themselves represented in the current site visible in an appropriate way.
