Traffic disturbance on Sunday, September 3, 2017

Traffic disturbances may affect the possibility to travel to the Memorial on Sunday, September 3, 2017 between 12 and 3 pm, due to a large event in Neuengamme. We expect road closures and the cancellation of some bus lines. After 3 pm, arrival should be possible again without issue. Read more

The staff of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial mourns Karla Raveh

Two weeks ago, on May 15, 2017, colleges from the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial and the Friends of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial celebrated the 90th birthday of Karla Raveh together with her and 140 guests in her hometown Lemgo of which Karla was honorary citizen. Last Saturday (May 27) Karla Raveh passed away unexpectedly. She will be laid to rest in Israel. We grieve together with Karla’s family and friends. Read more

The Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial Mourns the Passing of Janusz Kahl (February 1, 1927 – November 2, 2016)

Janusz Kahl, a former prisoner of the Neuengamme concentration camp from Poland and the vice president of the Amicale Internationale KZ Neuengamme died today at the age of 89. We are mourning the death of a warmhearted and wise friend. Read more

Future Cooperation Between the Memorial and its Russian Partners

The Deputy Director of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial, Dr. Oliver von Wrochem, has recently met with Dr. Sandra Dahlke, the Deputy Director of the German Historical Institute in Moscow and Dr. Natalia Timofeeva, the Director of the Regional Center for Oral History (Региональный центр устной истории в г. Воронеж) at the Voronezh Institute of High Technologies in Russia, where they agreed on closer cooperation in the future. Read more

New Cafeteria Opens – Collaboration with Elbe-Werkstätten

On 1 December, the new cafeteria officially opened in the main exhibition building. It is open to visitors and employees from Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cafeteria serves warm and cold beverages at reasonable prices and will soon offer a small selection of snacks. Read more
