We Mourn the Loss of Dagmar Lieblová

Our friend Dagmar Lieblová is dead. She died on 22 March 2018 in Prague at the age of 88.

We greatly valued Dagmar as a wise, warm, tolerant and urbane partner and a pillar of our work here at the Memorial. A few years ago, she published the story of her family and her persecution at the hands of the Nazis in a small volume which was translated into several languages. The English edition is entitled Someone Made a Mistake, So I Am Here Now. The Dagmar Lieblová Story. Read more

Chamber Music and Literature: A Program of Resistance

Actor Roman Knižka and the wind ensemble Opus 45 came together at the Neuengamme Memorial last Sunday for a matinee program under the theme of “resoundingly slapping the Nazis in the face.” The program, funded by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, combined music with literature and was located in the former production halls of the Walter company in the concentration camp memorial. On October 27, 2017, when Roland Roumilhac would have been 108 years old, his son Jean-Claude, his daughter-in-law and his three grandchildren visited the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial for the first time.
