Report on the commoration of the 77th anniversary of liberation

This year, together with the Amicale Internationale KZ Neuengamme, the Foundation was again able to invite people to events to mark the anniversary of the liberation on site at the Neuengamme concentration camp memorial. In recent years, to our great regret, we had been unable to hold any commemorative events (2020) or welcome guests to Hamburg (2021) due to the Corona pandemic. To mark the occasion of the anniversary of the end of the war and the liberation of the concentration camps, a whole series of events took place at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial in addition to the central commemoration ceremony on 3 May 2022. We participated in the action "Lights Against Darkness"

The liberation of the Auschwitz death camp 76 years ago on January 27, 1945 did not mean the end of persecution, exploitation, oppression and murder of tens of thousands of people who continued to be imprisoned in concentration camps like Neuengamme. Especially in the last months of the war, thousands of prisoners died. We commemorated the suffering of the prisoners in an online event on Memorial Day for the Victims of National Socialism, coinciding with other memorials at sites of Nazi crimes. Read more

Dutch and French Amicale Visit the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial

Delegations from the Netherlands and France visited the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial on November 2, 2018 as a part of their commemorative journey (pèlerinage). Jean-Michel Gaussot, President of Amicale Internationale KZ Neuengamme, Martine Letterie, President of Stichting Vriendenkring Neuengamme and Jean-Michel Clère, President of Amicale de Neuengamme et de ses Kommandos accompanied the groups. Approximately 100 people took part in the journey. Read more
