Memorial Sites are closed!

Please note: Due to an official order, Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial, Bullenhuser Damm Memorial, Fuhlsbüttel Memorial, Poppenbüttel Memorial and the Information Pavilion of the denk.mal Hannoverscher Bahnhof will be closed to visitors from March 14, 2020 until May 6, 2020. No events will take place until June 30, 2020.

Soldiers as Concentration Camp Guards

Saturday, 20 February 2021, 95-year-old German citizen Karl Friedrich Berger was deported from the USA and flown to Frankfurt by ambulance jet. In February 2020, an administrative court of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security ordered the deportation. Berger, who had lived in Tennessee since 1959, had filed an appeal, which was rejected. Alexandra and Anna are volunteers of Action Reconciliation Service for Peace. Lars is doing a voluntary social year. They will be working at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial for a year. Amicale Internationale Neuengamme launches Young Committee for the next generations

On May 1st, 2019 the Amicale Internationale KZ Neuengamme founded a new committee to represent 3rd and 4th generation descendants of victims and survivors of the Neuengamme concentration camp. It will focus on building a global network of descendants, supporting family history research and developing educational material for remembrance education. Read more

We remember Pascal Valliccioni

Today we received sad news: Pascal Valliccioni; who had been prisoner of the Neuengamme concentration camp, passed away at the age of 92 on February 27, 2019. Last May he visited the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial on occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the liberation. He not only talked to young people about his life, above that he wrote an impressive speech about his time as a concentration camp prisoner which was read to the audience by his daughter. Read more
