Friends of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial
The Freundeskreis KZ-Gedenkstätte Neuengamme e. V. (“Friends of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial”) was founded in 1988 by dedicated citizens and former concentration camp prisoners to support the work of the concentration camp memorial in various ways. Its diverse voluntary activities are an expression of the great commitment of its members. In 1995, the Friends of the Memorial association was awarded the Bürgerpreis (“Citizens’ Award”) of the Hamburg CDU for its work on behalf of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial. Three years later, it received the Herbert Wehner award from the German postal workers’ union.
The Working Group for Ecclesiastical Memorial Work
The Working Group offers tours every Sunday throughout the year, informative materials, literature and talks at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial. The members of the Working Group also volunteer to assist with larger events at the Memorial.
