Tours

Guides are available to provide ideal, age-appropriate tours to registered groups of visitors at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial. These guides lead visitors through the exhibitions and grounds, provide explanations, point out the various sources of information at the memorial, answer questions and assist with group work.

There are three types of guided visit which vary in length and thus intensity:

Museum talk (2 hours)
Project (3 hours)
Project day (5 hours)

The museum service provides tours in German, English, Danish, French, Polish, Russian, Flemish and Spanish. The guides have extensive experience working with children under the age of 15, students of comprehensive schools, unemployed adults from various Hamburg-based employment initiatives and groups of foreign visitors, among others.

To further explore the history of National Socialism in Hamburg, resistance and persecution, guided group tours are also offered at the three branch sites of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial in Hamburg: the Fuhlsbüttel Concentration Camp and Penal Facilities 1933-1945 Memorial, the Poppenbüttel Prefabricated Building Memorial and the Bullenhuser Damm Memorial.
