Das Lager Wöbbelin nach Kriegsende bis 1948
Anne Drescher präsentiert die Ergebnisse ihrer Forschung zur Nachnutzung des KZ-»Auffanglagers« Wöbbelin bei Ludwigslust in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Dort wurden ebenfalls Flüchtlinge und Vertriebene untergebracht. Die Lebensbedingungen waren besonders schlecht, weil die Versorgungseinrichtungen nicht fertiggestellt waren und die Stacheldrahtumzäunung nicht abgebaut wurde.
The Wöbbelin camp between the end of the war and 1948
The Wöbbelin camp was established as a satellite camp of Neuengamme during the last weeks of the war. When it was liberated by US troops on 2 May 1945, it had only been in operation for ten weeks. After the liberation, the huts of the camp served as a temporary home for evacuees, refugees and expellees. The essay describes who was housed at the Wöbbelin camp under what conditions after the liberation, and also discusses the closure and demolition of the camp. Based on interviews with former inhabitants and witnesses as well as extensive archival research, the author has managed to at least partly reconstruct the history of the Wöbbelin camp from its liberation in 1945 until 1948.
